Match Report
Milton Abbey School Boys-1st XV vs  Rendcomb Tournament
On: Sunday, 05 Nov 2017
Venue: Away

After a two and a half hour bus trip to Rencomb, we arrived to a bitter cold and windy day in the heart of the Cotswolds.

In the first of our three group matches we faced south Wales' St. Davids college, the game was end to end and fast paced throughout but the ten minute game length proved too challenging and the game ended 0-0. In our second group game we faced Shebbear, our second meeting this season; The game was extremely physical and Shebbear used their greater size and strength to edge out a 12-0 victory. In our third and final group game we came up against Ewell Castle of Surrey. The game was once again extremely tight with both teams having tries disallowed. This was an exciting game to watch that unfortunately ended 0-0 before it could develop, a full length game would have been a well contested affair.

Milton Abbey finished third in the group, meaning they went into the fifth to eighth place play-offs. in the first of our two games we played Lucton College, it was a very dominant performance by Milton Abbey with tries from Sam Wilson, Gabriel Goss, Angus Raby and Ben Bulley sealing the victory. This meant Milton Abbey were in the battle for fifth and sixth place. Milton Abbey came up against St. David's, the team they had faced hours earlier in the very first match. St. Davids came out very strong and direct from the start. Milton Abbey unfortunately didn't stick to their own game plan and playing style and got sucked into playing St. David's game. This proved the downfall and the game was won convincingly by St. Davids, leaving Milton Abbey to finish an overall sixth place in the tournament.
