Match Report
Milton Abbey School 1st XI vs  Hampshire Collegiate School
On: Saturday, 27 Jan 2018
Venue: at Home

The 1st XI played a strong Hampshire Collegiate side that proved a battle of a fixture. They Abbey started slow and found themselves against the wall in the first 10 minutes with Oscar Southwell making some great saves to keep the visitors at bay. Some poor marking at the back however led to a long ball played in with a free deflection. 1-0 down at half time. The Abbey came out fighting and were all over Hampshire Collegiate, creating chance after chance. Hugo O’Kelly managed to find the back of the net after a couple of brilliant saves from the opposition goalie, slotting it calmly into the bottom corner. The visitors responded well and after a couple of close range shots were awarded a penalty stroke, with Oscar seemingly shielding the ball under his body on the goal line. It was time for some heroics from our 1st XI goalkeeper, who pulled off a worldie save in the top left hand corner to keep the score at 1-1. This led to a nervy last 5 minutes with both teams not wanting to let any hard work slip. The final whistle blew on a great fixture, and probably a fair result for both.
