Match Report
Milton Abbey School Girls-1st XI vs  Warminster School
On: Saturday, 22 Sep 2018
Venue: Away

A fantastic result saw The Abbey take the win with a scoreline of 3-1.

A response was needed from our last poor performance on Thursday, and that was exactly what happened from the first whistle. It was a cold, wet, windy afternoon that could have easily dampened the girls mood and performance. However, Rosie lead the team brilliantly, putting in a dominant joint player of the match performance in the heart of midfield.

It was the captain that created the first goal. Superb build up play down the left as Coaimhe battled for the ball, linking up well with Louise around the top of the D. A short concise pass to Rosie in space gave her time to look up and slap a hard ball into the packed circle, finding India who slotted the ball into the bottom corner. A deserved 1-0 lead going into half time.

The second half started much like the first, fast paced and energetic from both teams. Warminster failed to convert their chances, with Chessie keeping the ball out of the goal and our defence forming a wall around the D. A long ball out of defence saw India on the counter attack again, her pace and determination led to our second goal of the game, with a beautiful shot lobbing the keeper. Her second goal giving her joint player of the match.

Warminster kept knocking, and finally found the back of the net with a well worked team goal. This could have led to a nervy last 5 minutes, but The Abbey kept playing their hockey, and it payed off with a third goal. Rosie again supplying a strong hard strike from outside of the 25 for youngster Patricia to deflect into the goal at the back post.

This is a result that was very much deserved and fought for. The girls are buzzing going into a well earned exeat weekend.
