Match Report
Milton Abbey School 1st XI vs  Ryde School with Upper Chine
On: Saturday, 11 May 2019
Venue: Away

The fist XI had a fantastic day on Saturday against Ryde. We won the toss and elected to bat. It was the most mature batting display that Milton Abbey have produced in many a year. Jamie and Seb got the innings off to a good start but a few wickets put us in trouble. Dan Eden and Archie Gardener then showed great maturity to re build the innings. This gave the foundation for Tom Myatt-Taylor to unleash his power. He smashed 44 off just 26 balls to help us post 154 off our 25 overs. Seb and Tom bowled well early but it was the introduction of Jake Taylor that really turned the match our way. Back from injury Jake was very accurate and took 3 for 19 from his 5 overs dismissing their key batters. Max Blackburn bowled two excellent overs on first team debut but the match came down to the final over. However Milton Abbey held their nerve to claim a 5 run win. A long day but well worth it and the boys were fantastic throughout.
